TRAVELS W/ SAM & XIAOMEII recently had the pleasure to see these two wonderful people get married.
These two have travelled far to get to where they are. Not quite a wedding video, but a short film/music video I shot over the course of my brother and his wife's relationship up until their wedding day. (March 2016) |

MODERN TABLEI've been wanting to share this one for a while, because I had a lot of fun working on it, and was finally able to get a copy!
This was a fun little Target sales pitch I edited a year ago with Fridays Films for Modern Table, a company started by a group of moms aiming to bring tasty healthy meals to their family in a fast-paced busy life. (October 2014) |

STEVE'S PROBLEM HITS HOLLYWOOD!Steve's Problem, directed by Mike Lars White just recently made its Hollywood debut at the HollyShorts Film Festival! Congrats to Mike and the rest of the cast & crew for an awesome festival run!
Here is the most recent version of the trailer I created for the film. A comedic (and chilling) story of one man's "problem", the stranger who offers him a "solution", and the disastrous results that follow. (August 2014) |

SAMSUNG'S SIMBAND UNVEILEDSamsung first unveiled its Simband wearable device and health tracker on May 28, 2014 at the "Voice of Body" event in San Francisco.
Here is a video I edited that showcases some of the highlights of the event, as well as some behind the scenes of the device's creation, leading up to its unveiling. I think it's time to get healthy...! (May 2014) |

"WHAT WILL YOU CREATE?"
KINOMA CREATE.A huge congratulations to the Kinoma Create team on a successful IndieGoGo campaign for their JavaScript powered device. I'm really happy to have been a part of this project, and I'm proud to say that I finally know a lot more about JavaScript than I did before!
This was a pretty insightful project to be a part of, and it was really amazing to see how creative people can get with one little product. (March 2014) |

"DISCOVER YOUR SHARK SIDE"
GREG NORMAN ESTATES.This year, I had the privilege of working with Fridays Films and Greg Norman Estates on this exciting little piece for the latter's wine brand.
The trailer was a result of a month long creative process between the producer, myself, and the client, as well as constant communication with graphic artists and musicians. (September 2013) |

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD... AGAIN!
JIU FEN.It's been exactly a year since dad and I went back to Taiwan, which was my first time visiting Jiu Fen, a place I had wanting to see for a long time. Here's a video I made last year soon after for my dad's birthday during a downtime period, I thought it'd be cool to bring it back again.... mostly because I didn't get to go this year...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
January 6, 2013
Everyone can take a sigh of relief, the world didn't end! 2012 turned out to be an incredible year: This was my first year working professionally as an Editor/Assistant Editor, I got to work at some of the most creative places on tremendously exciting projects, attend a few film festivals, and even had a chance to direct a few of my own films on the side. I think it's safe to say that 2012 ended up being a busy year!
Of course, with each year brings a few new changes, and as you noticed, I've changed the site name to something simpler and more straightforward. While Random Task Studios was a fun name, it doesn't really reflect what I was trying to promote with the site, which is myself as an editor. Plus, I think people had trouble remembering the domain name! While this new may not be the most original, like I said, I think it'll be a little more straightforward at parties: "Hi, I'm Daniel Tong, and I'm an editor. Go visit my site!"
I've also updated the look of the site, and I'm currently working on streamlining to make it a little less messy. I'll also be adding a Corporate section, now that I've been able to get some experience in that field in the past year. As I said, I'm always looking to expand my horizons. Let's see what 2013 has in store!

CONFERENCE CALL GETS A SCREENING!
December 6, 2012
A big congratulations and thank you to our little cast and crew for "Conference Call"! Our film was screened on December 6, 2012, at the 3rd Annual Mini-Movie Fest presented by South Bay First Thursdays, and the response was very positive! It was an honor to screen our film amongst so many other talented filmmakers. Having attended many festivals the past few years, this was my first time attending one as a director, and I hope that it won't be the last.
